North Idaho Fly Casters
We Are The NIFC
Since 1977, the North Idaho Fly Casters Club has been dedicated to all facets of the sport of fly fishing by providing a wide range of educational, social and conservation opportunities to the fly fishing enthusiast.

Education
North Idaho Fly Casters have been involved with education from their very beginning in 1977. Today, we continue to introduce our young people to the art and science of fly fishing. Led by Education Chair Dave Londeree, the club has put on fly tying classes at local high schools. Our club is also active with our veterans and we provide Fly Fishing 101 classes for those who are new to fly fishing. Members are taught how to build fly rods and nets.

Social
NIFC has club meetings (September – May) and Fishouts (June – September). Meeting new people who have a shared interest in fly fishing is the central theme. We have guest speakers who are experts in fly fishing and/or conservation. Fishouts include day trips and camping, with a variety of fishing locations and types.

Conservation
The North Idaho Fly Casters have been involved in conservation of our fisheries since its inception. We are a previous winner of the International Federation of Fly Fishers (known as FFI) prestigious McKenzie award for conservation activities in the Coeur d’Alene River basin. We have participated in tree planting, fish tagging, fish counts, fishing access projects, improvement of public boat access, water quality improvements and regulation changes.
Our Home Waters
We consider our “home waters” the Coeur d’Alene River and the St. Joe River, but we frequently fish other great places. Some of our trips are to the Clark Fork River in Montana, Columbia River in British Columbia, and the Lochsa and Clearwater Rivers in Idaho.
